Ciao - things going on.... & girly night

Only two & half days left at work, yeoww!

Then in a week I am leaving the UK! Argh scary but also exciting :-) Its beginning to hit me now and I have soooo much to do. I have allocated this saturday to packing up house, I have collected quite alot of junk and Jono will easily throw things out, I am some what of a hoarder. And to make matters worse when I get back to NZ I will have to do it all over again as I have stuff in storage to sort through.
Anyway - here are a few pics of whats been going on... had a girly night a few weeks back. It started off quite tame & sober then em brought out the tequilla & it all went down hill from there. Hula hooping & what not. Great fun though. Plus my abs were hurting the next day from all the hula hooping activity!

Tea at the Ritz!!

So I finally made it to the Ritz for afternoon tea, what a beautiful place!! Silver tea pots, & beautiful little cakes & sandwiches... I believe there where about 12 different types of tea. I also decided to indulge myself & get a glass of champagne - well I was at the Ritz, why not! Anyway the unlimited cakes & sammies kept on coming and we were nearly rolling out of the Ritz but all had a fabulous time!!

Corfu, Greece

Corfu, Greece
Was great to meet up with Mum & Dad in Corfu! We all had a lovely time, the water reminded me alot of Croatia actually, really clear, beautiful bluey green colour!
We had beautiful views of the corfu sea from our bedroom balconies, not often you get to see that! Certainly not in London anyway!!

Anyway we spent our days on the beach, of course! Trying to avoid the wasps at all costs! The trick was just to leave them, Day one I got stung because I hit the wasp, it retaliated & bit me on the arm! So I tried to leave them alone as best as I could. They come flocking because of the endless amount of olive trees on the island.

The food was delish! Greek Salads were lovely, & the moussaka & lamb dishes are amazing! Oh and the tzakiki, yum! I pretty much had to have that with every meal! I even brought the 'secret' ingredients back to london with me so I can make it when ever I feel like it... though I attempted to this for Jono and I one night and put way to much of the garlic/dill mixture into the yoghurt, we were overdosed in garlic!! So I need to watch the limit next time.

Bergerac, France & Bday!

Hello All
So I have reached the tender age of 28 years! Not sure how I feel about it yet, I am alot closer to 30 now which is scary.... At least I celebrated in true french style!
Bergerac is right in the heart of wine country, about 1 hours drive from Bordeaux. The bergerac airport was basically a shed, you had to push along your luggage on a manual roller thingy. Quite funny. Anyway days were spent lounging, drinking, eating, mountain biking (huge hills, thighs burning), wine tasting. It was a lovely relaxing time.

Last of the UK Barbies??

The sun came out a couple of times and we were lucky it didn't rain! Where has the london summer gone, I have decided that it is now coming into Autumn in London and I have lost all hope. Had a great barbie/party though!

Jono cooked a staggering amount of meat and everyone was full & happy! Might be the last one for a while, until we
start having them over in NZ! Where hopefully the sun will be shining most days!!

West Side Story!

Went to see this musical last night, wow it was great, one of the best I have seen! Great singing & dancing, why didn't I learn ballet or dance when I was younger!! I think mum told me that she took me to ballet once and I hated it. Actually a couple of times I was asked in pillates if I have done ballet, missed my calling card I think :-)

Anyway recommend to see this show it was great!!

Building a house - Habitat for Hummanity

Hello there

A few weeks back I arranged a habitat for humanity housebuild for work HFH works with businesses and communities to help build houses in deprived areas of London, we were out helping build a house in an area called peckham, was good fun! I learnt to put up a few walls, use a nail gun & a hand saw.. :-) (skills for the house I will one day own, possibly!) this housing project is all over the world and a great way to help out people less fortunate.
Anyway here I am in action...

Back on the blog...

So I thought I would begin my blog again after nearly a year. Where has the time gone? I have a wee timeline of events that have happened throughout my slackness of not keeping up with the blog. .. So what has happened?

September 07 – Was my birthday I went to NYC! An amazing city, had a blast, its defo on my top city list! The shopping, atomosphere, the beautiful weather, fab food... bliss...

December 07/January 08 – I headed to Morocco (photo highlights below) amazing trip. The souks of Marrakesh are something else, spices & tagines galore! I got a wee bit of a funny tummy, but sort of expected in those parts no matter how much you are clean, the money is probably the dirtest I have ever encountered and at one point we were all in a cab & the driver proceeded to pick his teeth with some money ewwwww…..

The highlight of the trip was deffinately the 4x4 tour of Morocco & camel trekking in the sahara. Jono brought me this lovely old jewellery box from a berber village, though its making all of my jewellery smell old & musty, still it looks cool.

March 08

I went & visited Mum & Dad in Dubai & it was hot! Bliss! Was great to see them again, they seem to be settling well into the life of the dubai expat. I spent the most money on a cocktail ever while I was there, £23! For one drink! Well it was at the world’s only 7 star hotel, so I sort of justified the spend. Loads of shopping malls & gold souks everywhere in the old town, Dubai seem to have just about run out of oil but are certainly making most of their money now but the amazing buildings they are putting up around the city, including an underwater hotel?? Be interesting to visit in a few years time to see how its all changed

April – The boy’s big 3-0!!! We did it vegas style literally, 6 friends joined jono and I for the 3oth of the year! Everyone had a great time, Jono especially, he even won a bit of cash! Fun times! AND the weather was fabulous, so alot of time was spent by the pool :-) photo highlights vegas

HEADING HOME!

So we have decided to make the big move back, we will be back in NZ next February!! I leave the UK in dec will spend a month with Mum & Dad in Dubai, then jono and I are heading to south east asia for about 6 weeks to explore thailand & potentially vietnam. I have never been to that part of the world so I am looking forward to it!

Will try to keep the blog updated every two weeks (or monthly if nothing exciting has been happening)
